Mostly, I just believe that I’m never going to stop learning what it is I believe.
What the actual fuck has she done to her face?!?!
This makes me sad seeing her on Matt Damon’s takeover of Jimmy Kimmel Live.
Plastic surgery is a friend to no one.
The Deadliest Jobs In America, In One Graphic
From NPR’s Planet Money:
“Here’s a look at the rate of work-related, on-the-job deaths in 2011 for U.S. workers. We included the three deadliest occupations, along with a handful of other jobs. (Here’s the complete list, which comes from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.)”
I’m kinda totally OK with being at the very bottom of this list in the business and finance sector.
Filed under random as it gets, my friend sends me this photo of a quote taped to the desk of a teacher she’s substituting for today. I am the person quoted. I never met this teacher face to face & only spoke to her once on the telephone 3 years ago. Full circle moment & a reminder I need as I shift to the role of mother of TEENAGER. Thanks, Universe! And, 2010 self for being so wise. :)
As the co-authors of Red Families v. Blue Families, we often give talks about the recent rise in what’s called the “nonmarital birthrate,” or the idea that more than 40 percent of children are now born to women who aren’t married. Sometimes at our talks someone will come up to us, confess his or her encounter with single parenthood, and say something like: “When my daughter got pregnant and decided to keep the child, we were OK with that because we are Christians. When she decided not to marry the father, we were relieved because we knew he would be bad for her and the marriage would never work.”
They express these two beliefs—that they are Christian and thus uncomfortable with abortion and that they are relieved their daughter decided to raise the child alone—as if they are not connected. But in fact this may be one of the stranger, more unexpected legacies of the pro-life movement that arose in the 40 years since Roe v. Wade: In conservative communities, the hardening of anti-abortion attitudes may have increased the acceptance of single-parent families. And by contrast, in less conservative communities, the willingness to accept abortion has helped create more stable families.
I firmly believe that those who would cal themselves “pro-life” are truly only pro-BIRTH because they NEVER stop to consider what the actual LIFE of the child and the mother will be like once the child is born into the world.
I have a million and forty-four thoughts to share about this issue but have no time in my day to do so but rest assured pro-life for the majority is truly just pro-birth and it’s a travesty.
