I believe in simplicity. I believe in feelings and family, friendship and fidelity, forgiveness and fortitude. I believe in motherhood and make believe. I believe in concocting and consuming colorful cocktails and fussing over and feasting on fabulous food. I believe in living out loud. I believe in laughing until your face hurts and loving until your heart breaks. I believe in behaving boldly and when warranted, badly, taking bubble baths and being barefoot. I believe in poetry, puppies and playing in the park. I believe in scheduled working on weekdays and sleeping in on Sundays. I believe in dancing in the rain and digging in the dirt. I believe in honest expression and the golden rule. I believe in nature and naps and that naïveté is sometimes necessary. I believe in goodness and gratitude and grace. I believe in unity and the power of the universe. I believe in being authentically awesome. I believe in being better today than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow. I believe in challenges and change and growing pains. I believe in the inherent worth of every creature on this planet. I believe in honoring the individual journeys and paths of people whether I understand them or not. I believe in letting people live their truth and trusting that it’s right for them. I believe in lifting up and letting go. I believe that death is just as sacred an experience as birth and that it is never, ever an end.

Mostly, I just believe that I’m never going to stop learning what it is I believe.

“There comes a time when you look into the mirror and you realize that what you see is all that you will ever be. And then you accept it. Or you kill yourself. Or you stop looking in mirrors.”

—Tennessee Williams

Out of NOWHERE I conjure tears for people.
People I have long ago let go.
W.T.ACTUAL.F.?!?!?!?!?!

W.T.ACTUAL.F.?!?!?!?!?!

“I am not what happened to me, I am what I choose to become.”

—Carl Gustav Jung

This is for you and you know who you are.
Only we can define who we are unto ourselves.
Society, religion, anatomy, economic status, education…none of those things matter.
All that matters is who YOU are in relation to YOU.
Live your truth and the entire world will open to receive it.

This is for you and you know who you are.

Only we can define who we are unto ourselves.

Society, religion, anatomy, economic status, education…none of those things matter.

All that matters is who YOU are in relation to YOU.

Live your truth and the entire world will open to receive it.

I hope you’ve outgrown breaking things just because you can’t and won’t fix yourself.

I hope you’ve outgrown breaking things just because you can’t and won’t fix yourself.

“Everybody’s at war with different things. I’m at war with my own heart sometimes.”

—Tupac Shakur

It’s not endearing.
Knock it off.

It’s not endearing.

Knock it off.

Their rendition of “Home” is still my favorite of all the covers they’ve done because it was just perfect but this one’s pretty great. Just when I thought I would shoot the speakers if I had to hear this song one more time now that it’s been played to pieces, Alexa made it new with her enthusiasm for the music.

Love it!

Every once in awhile the entire Universe conspires to send you the same message a million times, in a million ways until you believe it.

Message received.

HELPED are those who are content to be themselves; they will never lack mystery in their lives and the joys of self-discovery will be constant.

HELPED are those who love the entire cosmos rather than their own tiny country, city, or farm, for to them will be shown the unbroken web of life and the meaning of infinity.

HELPED are those who live in quietness, knowing neither brand name nor fad; they shall live every day as if in eternity, and each moment shall be as full as it is long.

HELPED are those who love others unsplit off from their faults; to them will be given clarity of vision.

HELPED are those who create anything at all, for they shall relive the thrill of their own conception, and realize a partnership in the creation of the Universe that keeps them responsible and cheerful.

HELPED are those who love the Earth, their mother, and who willingly suffer that she may not die; in their grief over her pain they will weep rivers of blood, and in their joy in her lively response to love, they will converse with the trees.

HELPED are those whose every act is a prayer for harmony in the Universe, for they are the restorers of balance to our planet. To them will be given the insight that every good act done anywhere in the cosmos welcomes the life of an animal or a child.

HELPED are those who risk themselves for others’ sakes; to them will be given increasing opportunities for ever greater risks. Theirs will be a vision of the world in which no one’s gift is despised or lost.

HELPED are those who strive to give up their anger; their reward will be that in any confrontation their first thoughts will never be of violence or of war.

HELPED are those whose every act is a prayer for peace; on them depends the future of the world.

HELPED are those who forgive; their reward shall be forgiveness of every evil done to them. It will be in their power, therefore, to envision the new Earth.

HELPED are those who are shown the existence of the Creator’s magic in the Universe; they shall experience delight and astonishment without ceasing.

HELPED are those who laugh with a pure heart; theirs will be the company of the jolly righteous.

HELPED are those who love all the colors of all the human beings, as they love all the colors of the animals and plants; none of their children, nor any of their ancestors, nor any parts of themselves, shall be hidden from them.

HELPED are those who love the lesbian, the gay, and the straight, (and transgender!) as they love the sun, the moon, and the stars. None of their children, nor any of their ancestors, nor any parts of themselves, shall be hidden from them.

HELPED are those who love the broken and the whole; none of their children, nor any of their ancestors, nor any parts of themselves, shall be hidden from them.

HELPED are those who do not join mobs; theirs shall be the understanding that to attack in anger is to murder in confusion.

HELPED are those who find the courage to do at least one small thing each day to help the existence of another—plant, animal, river, or human being. They shall be joined by a multitude of the timid.

HELPED are those who lose their fear of death; theirs is the power to envision the future in a blade of grass.

HELPED are those who love and actively support the diversity of life; they shall be secure in their differences.

HELPED are those who KNOW.

—Alice Walker
