I believe in simplicity. I believe in feelings and family, friendship and fidelity, forgiveness and fortitude. I believe in motherhood and make believe. I believe in concocting and consuming colorful cocktails and fussing over and feasting on fabulous food. I believe in living out loud. I believe in laughing until your face hurts and loving until your heart breaks. I believe in behaving boldly and when warranted, badly, taking bubble baths and being barefoot. I believe in poetry, puppies and playing in the park. I believe in scheduled working on weekdays and sleeping in on Sundays. I believe in dancing in the rain and digging in the dirt. I believe in honest expression and the golden rule. I believe in nature and naps and that naïveté is sometimes necessary. I believe in goodness and gratitude and grace. I believe in unity and the power of the universe. I believe in being authentically awesome. I believe in being better today than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow. I believe in challenges and change and growing pains. I believe in the inherent worth of every creature on this planet. I believe in honoring the individual journeys and paths of people whether I understand them or not. I believe in letting people live their truth and trusting that it’s right for them. I believe in lifting up and letting go. I believe that death is just as sacred an experience as birth and that it is never, ever an end.

Mostly, I just believe that I’m never going to stop learning what it is I believe.

The Official White House Tumblr: The White House, Tumbling Things

whitehouse:

We see some great things here at the White House every day, and sharing that stuff with you is one of the best parts of our jobs. That’s why we’re launching a Tumblr. We’ll post things like the best quotes from President Obama, or video of young scientists visiting the White House for the science…

I’m equal parts intrigued & grossed out, Sonic. (at SONIC Drive In)

soulpancake:

SoulPancake has been awarded the 2013 Audience Choice award at the Life Tree Film Festival for the “My Last Days: Meet Joel” episode. Huge shout out to the hardworking and inspiring My Last Days production team. Without their hearts being poured into these stories, achievements like this wouldn’t happen.

How about instead we give a HUGE THANK YOU to Joel and his loved ones for letting Soulpancake document one of the most difficult, frightening, emotional, beautiful and holy periods of his existence?
I’d feel better about doing that.
“Even if he doesn’t get to change the world, he’s changed my world.”
His story changed my world too…in a beautiful, better way. Thanks, Joel!

He Stopped Loving Her Today
I Am What I Am

George Jones - “He Stopped Loving Her Today”

He said I’ll love you ‘til I die
She told him you’ll forget in time
As the years went slowly by
She still preyed upon his mind

I will never not think of that night or how in love we were on that dance floor all those years ago when I hear this song. Never.

Rest peaceful and easy, George.

Perhaps my very favorite HONY of all time.
And it’s near impossible to choose a favorite but this speak so much to my soul.

You Are My Wild is a talented group of 14 photographers who publish a weekly portrait series of how they see their kids.

We talked with Meaghan Curry one of the founding members, and she gave us a little insight into how they started:

“Right after the new year, and in sort of a creative lull, we were brainstorming about starting a project to force ourselves to put down our phone cameras down and pick up our other cameras more regularly…

Ironically, Instagram is the common thread between us. It is where we found other people documenting their children in really loving, beautiful and respectful ways.”

I really, really, really love this and SO wish I’d gotten into photography when Emma was younger.
